Today, we’ll ride a short section from Hirosaki Station (弘前駅) to Mutsu-Tsuruda Station (陸奥鶴田駅), a section that offers fantastic views of apple trees and Mount Iwaki (岩木山 Iwaki-san)-a local mountain symbolic of Aomori Prefecture. This train was one of the first Joyful Trains to be launched, and offers breathtaking views of both the verdant green fields and stunning sapphire sea as it traverses the route between Aomori and Akita, mainly on the JR Gono Line (五能線). On the first day, let’s start off with a ride on a special train, the Resort Shirakami.
